Service Overview

Bristol Community Health and Weston Diabetic Eye Screening Service run the National NHS Diabetic Eye Screening Programme in BNSSG.

They offer annual photographic eye screening for people with diabetes aged 12 years and over for patients living in Bristol, North Somerset and South Glos.

Referral Guidance

When you need to refer anyone with diabetes to the Bristol Community Health Bristol & Weston Diabetic Eye Screening Programme please follow this simple process.

 Referral criteria

  • New patients and new to surgery patients aged 12+

  • Type 1, Type 2 or MODY diabetes

  • Registered with a GP in Bristol, North Somerset or South Gloucestershire

  • No referral required for gestational diabetes.
