Clinical Knowledge Summaries has useful information on management:

Constipation in Adults

Consider referral if a serious underlying cause is suspected (see red flags) or symptoms persist despite optimal management in primary care.

Options for referral include:

Gastroenterology Advice and Guidance Service via e-referral

Community Gastroenterology Service (PRIME) via e-referral

Secondary Care referral to gastroenterology or colorectal surgeons.

Anorectal physiology is available via direct referral at NBT but normally only requested on advice of a specialist.
