STEPs is a specialist service for adults aged 18 and over with anorexic and bulimic type eating problems. The service provides primary care based assessment and cognitive behavioural therapy services.

The community team is based at The STEPs Unit, Southmead Hospital with community psychiatric nurses covering the outlying areas of South Gloucestershire, Bath and North East Somerset and North Somerset. They are a multidisciplinary team with a wide skill mix including medical, psychological, dietetic, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, art psychotherapy and nursing input.

As a tertiary service they accept referrals from primary care mental health liaison teams in the Avon area and First Step in Bristol (see below). Please note that they do not accept direct referrals from GPs.
