Pulmonary Rehab Service - Bristol

The Bristol Community Health Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service is a treatment programme for people with long term lung conditions, whose breathing is causing them difficulty when moving around or carrying out daily activities. The programme will combine a personalised activity plan with education and advice to help people with lung conditions feel more in control of their condition.

Inclusion Criteria

  • Symptomatic shortness of breath
  • Chronic respiratory disease
  • Motivated

Exclusion Criteria

  • Unstable cardiac conditions
  • Severe cognitive deficit
  • Metastatic cancer or renal failure
  • Immobile


Referral Guidance - Bristol

Referrals should be made using the BCH referral form.

Patients who have a diagnosis of a long term lung condition can also self refer by contacting the Community Respiratory Team on 0117 9617159. Patients who self refer must be happy for the team to speak to their GP to gain their full medical history prior to attendance at the group.

Pulmonary Rehab - North Somerset

Pulmonary Rehabilitation in North Somerset is provided by North Somerset Community Partnership.

The service is for adults with a chronic lung disease who feel limited by breathlessness. There are no age limits but there are exclusion criteria and patients need to have their own transport.

Exclusion criteria:

  • Unstable cardiac conditions
  • Severe cognitive deficit
  • Cancer with poor prognosis
  • Psychiatric disease affecting memory/behaviour/compliance
