Loss of Libido

Checked: 14-01-2019 by Rob.Adams Next Review: 14-01-2020

Overview

Loss of libido is a common problem but difficult to define as there is such a wide range of 'normal'. There is a useful article on Low Libido on the patient.co.uk website.

Referral

Referral for low of libido should be guided by underlying cause.

The psychosexual clinic at Unity Sexual Health may be appropriate for some and relationship counselling with organisations such as Relate may also be worth considering.

NHS referral for prescribing of medication in the treatment of loss of libido is not recommended. Testosterone and other drugs are not on the BNSSG formulary for this indication and so referrals are not commissioned for this indication in BNSSG CCG.
