General Principals

Patients who have not been able to lose weight through advice and self care may be eligible for Tier 2 Weight Management Services.

These services currently vary across then BNSSG area but are summarised in the following BNSSG policy. (this policy is the CBA policy for tier 3 services but also summarises tier 1 - 4 services for Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset)

We have tried to summarise the local options below. Please be aware that local pathways may be subject to change.

Patients should complete at Tier 2 Weight Management process before consideration of referral to Tier 3 Weight Management service unless BMI is 50 or over in which case direct referral to Tier 3 Service is allowable.

Man V Fat is not currently being funded by North Somerset Council Public Health. Man v Fat Football is running in Weston and Portishead but will need to be paid for by the patient. For live leagues (these are leagues that are currently running) it costs £9.99 to register as a player, or £17.99 with a copy of the five star rated The MAN v FAT Weight Loss Manual (RRP £12.99). Individuals can then sign up to a league and pay £25 per month.
